PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT

  • Created the entitlement strategy for the La Floresta Development in Brea, CA, including 1,300 residential units, a 12 acre commercial zone, required water supply commitments, and open space/park requirements utilizing an existing executive golf course
  • Created an entitlement strategy for “The Canyons”, a 2,800 acre mixed use development in Simi Valley, CA
  • Successfully led a campaign to defeat an anti-growth ballot initiative called Save Open Space and Agricultural Reserve (SOAR) in Simi Valley, CA
  • Established 125 acres of Coastal Sage Scrub (gnat catcher habitat) in Fullerton, CA and negotiated a permanent conservation easement with the Center for Natural Lands Management
  • Renegotiated the E. Coyote Hills Development Agreement in Fullerton, CA to extend development timelines and transfer long term maintenance obligations for parks and public trails to the City of Fullerton.
  • Managed a joint venture company between Unocal & Standard Pacific Homes to complete mass grading, remediation, oil well abandonment, and infrastructure installation for development of 220 acres for residential (710 homes) and recreational uses in Fullerton, CA

ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION

  • Led a team to develop a Remedial Action Plan and Feasibility Study and field and lab studies in support of long term treatment strategies for a high profile, former oil field in Guadalupe, CA
  • Negotiated resolution of a lawsuit and 6 Compliance Orders filed by the State of Arizona against Unocal to complete remediation projects at former service station sites
  • Negotiated a modification to an environmental settlement agreement with owners of an ice arena and warehouse property associated with ground water contamination emanating from tanks on an adjacent fuels storage terminal in Fairfax, VA
  • In preparation for redevelopment, led a team to complete demolition, oil well abandonment, and remediation of Unocal’s former research center in Brea, CA
  • Established a joint venture, horizontal well drilling company, called Flowmole Environmental Services and provided business development and technical support for well design and environmental applications ie soil fracturing, air sparging, vapor extraction, and ground water extraction

BUSINESS OPERATIONS & PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

  • Managed Unocal’s 450,000 sf Hartley Center Office Complex in Brea, CA
  • Vice President of a public water company, Casmite Water Company, serving Casmalia, CA
  • Board Director, responsible for Unocal’s interest in a mutual water company, California Domestic Water Company, in Whittier, CA
  • Led a team responsible for establishing and managing a nationwide surplus property management program covering 150 surplus properties in 40 states
  • Directed Chevron’s Tax Deferred Exchange Program for deferral of capital gains taxes on property sales
